Depending on what goes down with UDE, this place may be the new forums. So much good information about the game will be lost if the old forums fold, though. I search the Rules forum from time to time...

I just had some difficulties discerning the 'post reply' button from the 'post new topic' button... Still, great job!

Probably a good idea to try and fill a gap if one exists. At the very least, if there is a smooth transition from one company to the next, it can serve as an ongoing place to discuss the articles.

There are really three big barriers for an independent site to be competitive in relation to official forums. First, the official forums have access to the producers and judges. Second, new players go there first to ask questions. Third, without providing something novel, players have limited reasons to go to a new site.

A few things to overcome these would be to start building a knowledge base in the rules sections. Posting FAQs by sets and maybe a comprehensive guide would help. Make sure to link to OCRs and other living documents.

Finally, beyond what is provided in the weekly articles, it might be a good idea to provide additional original content. The idea that comes to mind is match reports. Encourage or enlist specific people to post new matches weekly that they have either in person or on vassal. Listing ABCs of both players and significant things/moves that happen can be a good reason to come here daily.

As a sidenote, the reply button seems to be using the "new topic" graphic button and probably should be fixed.

Oh, and can the default behavior of the forums be descending by new post...the new post first is disorienting for newer readers and requires them to work for context.

Glad to have another place to go. These forums are already more active than the UD ones have been.

Well, if we have a community to rebuild, then the call to arms can sound loudly. Every time I visit the UDE forums, I swell up with a mix of negative emotions that rarely lead to productive posts, so I don't post.

That's true. I try to hold out hope and things but those boards are pretty negative as of late.

How do I turn off auto-subscribe? I figured it would be in the profile preferences, but I do not see it there.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it.

Is my avatar too big? If it is I can always add another one. Just wondering if anyone thinks it's a bit large.

Realms will be held, that's for sure. Whether or not Minis will be there is a more difficult question.

I'm glad I found the new forums. I read the old ones a lot, but never posted being newer to the game than most. At least I feel like i'm on level ground because everyone has a low number of posts so far. Maybe I can provide some insight, but in all likelihood will just be learning more before I post anything major. Cheers!
