the eye of the storm...

So I've thought for a long time about a new raid to make, but I keep coming up totally empty. I was sitting here the other day thinking about when I used to play wow and it occured to me. I really used to like pvp battlegrounds. Warsong gulch and arathi basin have been done. Alterac valley, I don't even want to tning about how we could accurately depict that in the minis game. Then I thought eye of the storm.

I used to love eye of the storm. The flag is centrally located in an area that funnels everyone vying for the flag into a very small area. There are four towers located in the corners of the map. You win when your team reaches a set number of points, which you get by either controlling the towers or grabbing the flag and running it to a tower you control. In order to achieve victory though, you must score your winning points by running the flag back to a tower your team controls.

We've seen a flag running mechanic in warsong gulch, so we know how that could work. The towers are essentially VP locations.

Here's what i'm thinking:

- 8v8 highlander
- the scenario will be constructed on 2 deluxe starter maps to accomidate the large teams and play area (I'll put one together and post pictures soon).
- it will cost 1 tick to pick up the flag.
- the flag may be passed to other characters on your team for a cost of 1 tick to the character who is receiving the flag.
- when the flag carrier dies, the flag stays in the hex where he died until someone picks it up.
- there will be a 2 tick cost to gain control of a tower. This will be paid by a character on the tower.
- when a character caps the flag at a tower his team controls, that character pays 1 tick and the flag is returned to the central area of the map at the beginning of the next tick.
- capping the flag awards 4 VP's.
- at the end of each tick you get 1 VP for each tower you control. - you get the standard 4 VP's for a non legendary kill and 8 VP's for a legendary kill.
-terrain is impassable and offers no offensive or defensive bonuses.
- abilities that enhance your movement are legal while carrying the flag. Mages can blink, anyone can use a swiftness potion, rogues can sprint, etc.
- victory is achieved once a player has VP's equal to his honor total and must cap the flag to get the win. As an example:

I need 45 VP's to win. I currently have 44 and control 2 towers. I won't win at the end of this tick from my tower VP's which would put me at 46 VP's. I still need to cap the flag to win.

So this I just a rough idea. I think it's a large, but viable scenario. I'm gonna go work on making the map and I'll post a picture with some explanation. I'm gonna apologize in advance. I don't have 2 matching maps and the picture I put up will be taken with my phone. So like I said...

Hopefully you can make out what is what.
The flag is in the middle. The towers are the four VP's cradled in the terrain between the flag and spawn points. I hope everyone has enjoys this new scenario, it may not be that well thought out, but who knows until we all try it.

Hah, I don't play warcraft and this battle ground is so new to me, first I wowwikied it and got confused, but reading your rule helped me understand it better

The concept sounds really honorable and with the double sized map as your pictures show, we would have a very intense fight I guess, especially with 8v8 highlanders. We may need half of Sunday to finish the game

Just why don't you post the pictures right in this article together with the text instead of link, so pp can both read the rule and look at the map? It might be easier to visualize the whole enormous scene..

Were the rules or concept anything like my idea? Do you remember how big the teams were?
