casual play?
So without the prospect of much organized play anymore, everyone has to be playing on a more casual level. So why don't we discuss what we've been playing casually? 3v3? 5v5? Arena? What have YOU been playing lately? I've been messing around with a modified ogre team.
Crushridge ogre
Healing wave
Purge
Earth shock
Boulderfist warrior
Cleave
Mortal strike
Intervene
Daggum Ty'gor
Expose armor
Kick
Healing potion
It may not be the best, but it is fun with the ogre racial passive abilities.

Re: casual play?
I'm not sure about your choice of ABC's.
Here is my proposal:
Crushridge ogre
Chain Lightning (your Ogres have very low defence stats, so healing is useless, CL is better option)
Purge
Earth shock
Boulderfist warrior
Cleave
Mortal Strike
Sunder Armor (Savin with Bulwark is GG for you...)
Daggum Ty'gor
Expose Armor
Kick
Felsteel Boomstick (I like this card, you can hit kialas and clothies from afar, and Boulderfist can use the rifle too)
I'm not sure about Kick, but in some cases you can cancel Ice Block, Evasion or some healing). Try Distract here, good synergy with CL and Cleave.

Thanks for the input. I'll give the revised ABC's a try. Perhaps there will be more parties to critique soon lol.

Re: casual play?
I've been running with:
Aleyah-Sulfuras, Flash of Light
Thangal-Starfire, Silk Bandage (sadly, I have no copies of Tranquility in my collection)
Morganis-Mana Pot, Flamestrike
Packs a pretty good punch.

Re: casual play?
I can see that being a pretty decent team! I will definitely give it a try once I get my hands on a thangal.

Re: casual play?
Aleyah's BoS doesn't trigger Sulfuras, right?
...back to the shadows...
Attack damage (602.1): The amount of attack damage to be dealt to each defender is determined by subtracting that defender’s blocks from hits. Such damage may be replaced before it’s dealt. If the final result is a positive integer, the defender takes that much attack damage and its health dial is reduced by that amount. No other damage in the game is attack damage. If there are multiple defenders, all attack damage is dealt simultaneously after all defenders have finished defending.
Blessing of Sacrifice: If an adjacent ally would be
dealt attack damage, the first 2 damage is dealt to
Aleyah instead.
Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, 4, Class DkPaShWa
Equipment—Weapon, Two-Handed (1)
When this character is dealt attack damage, the attacker takes 1 damage.

BoS
The damage taken from blessing of sacrifice is still attack damage, as it doesn't change the characteristics of the damage dealt in any way. So hand of rag does trigger.

Re: casual play?
"Some replacement effects replace damage that would be dealt. They do so by changing one or more
specific attributes of that damage. Any attributes not specifically changed remain the same in the
modified damage. An effect that use both “would be dealt damage” and “prevent” is a type of
replacement effect (even though it doesn’t use the word “instead”) that prevents a specified amount of damage that would be dealt."
This is where BoS fits in, right? So what effects are out there that change an attribute of the damage, if the 'attack' attribute of the damage isn't being changed here?
Back to the shadows to ponder. It's been TOO long since I've done any major judging. Right Steelwing?
- EDIT -
Is the attribute change part of replacement effects talking about Fear and Psychic Scream?

Re: casual play?
Blessing of Sacrifice does nothing to modify the type of damage, other than causing the first two damage to be dealt to the Paladin, and only triggers on attack damage. So the damage is still attack damage and does trigger Sulfuras. This was one of the main tenets of the Velen Wall team.

Re: casual play?
Well of course! I was just reading into things too much. Got some action on the boards that we haven't seen in a while though.

ABS
It is nice to see some action on the forums! Here's a fun, high honor team that has some weaknesses, but is fun none the less.
Savin
Bulwark
Flash of light
Cleanse
Bolvar
Bolvar's retribution
Flash of light
Blessing of kings
Amon darkheart
Shadowburn
Summon piztog
Death coil
I know there's nothing that increases bolvar's chance to crit, you could give him nightmare blade to jack up the honor cost even more. The way it stands is you rely on luck for crits and a lot of lifetapping and BoW for damage on amon. The damage racks up on him pretty quick, and if you get lucky with bolvar's crit it usually means a kill. Far from perfect, but fun lol.

I could see using BoM on Bolvar to help push for those crits.

Re: casual play?
Very true, I put BoK in there to beef up amon a bit in case savin gets sheeped or sundered. I guess it all depends in how you want to play it, because no matter what you're losing a heal that could be there.

Re: casual play?
What do you think of something like this? Same idea, damage Amon and then crit with Bolvar.
Bolvar-Bulwark of Azzinoth, Bolvar's Retribution, Flash of Light
Amon-Doomfinger, Summon Santuria, Hellfire
Elanna-Master Tactician, Call Old Bones, Arcane Shot
Amon can repeatedly use Life Tap and Doomfinger, not channeling it, to kite stuff around and accumulate damage. Then Elanna pops MT and Bolvar hoses an opposing full health enemy.

Re: casual play?
Not too shabby! One man's junk prevails again! I like the doomfinger idea! You could take it a step further and use irana with ice block and arcane flux on bolvar. He wouldn't be guaranteed a crit, but you could ready bolvar's retribution at 5 and guarantee some more direct damage.
